…As She Vows to Attract More Govt. Attention to Uyo

 By Augustine Akpan
The maiden outing of Lady Barr. Stella Ezekiel Udoh was a success story of  massive endorsements at Etoi and Offot Ukwa Clans weeks ago as same experience repeated itself at the Palace of the Paramount Ruler of Uyo, HRM, Edidem (Surv.) Edem Silas Akpan, FNIS, (JP), in Ikot Odung Ikono, Ikono Ibom Clan last weekend during the consultation visit of the Divine change 2015 campaign team with the aspirant.
In a show of acceptance of the House of Assembly hopeful, the Royal father described her visit to the Palace as a rare and astonishing experience.
Edidem Silas Akpan who moved from a lesser stool to his  royal seat  received Barr. Stella Udoh and  admitted that he seldom sit on the throne whenever the council meet except on very “important” occasions, adding that it was the  credibility of Lady Stella Ezekiel Udoh  that informed his action.

Lady (Barr) Mrs Stella Ezekiel Udoh
House of Assembly Aspirant for
Uyo State Constituency
The Uyo Monarch, after listening to the template x-raying the political rotation formula of the clans in Uyo (which revealed the neglect suffered by Oku Clan) which was presented to him by the aspirant, Lady Barr.Stella Ezekiel promised to rally support for the imbalance to be corrected.
Edidem Silas Akpan said he had lived in Oku (specifically Ikot Ntuen) between 1976 -1980s and recalled that the people of the area never treated him and his family unfairly and rhetorically asked why he should close his eyes against an Oku indigene now that they(Oku people) needed his support.
The paramount ruler further corroborated and adopted the popular stand by his cohorts by joining forces with the likes of the chairman of Ikono Ibom Clan and the secretary, Eteidung Sunday Reuben Eshiet and Effiong Akpan Udo to eulogize in glowing ways, the sterling  qualities of Lady Barr. Stella Udoh as well as offered royal prayers for the aspirant.

Earlier in an address, the D.G. Divine Change 2015, Hon. Joseph Edem had already amplified what the aspirant has to offer when he religiously went philosophical saying that faith has finished its work and behold God has done a new thing. He explained that the Oku Clan had patiently waited for decades without taking their turn and that the new thing God has brought to the clan and Uyo state constituency is Lady Barr Stella Ezekiel Udoh whom he said has the professional and technical know-how to deliver dividends of democracy to the people through qualitative and effective representation.

He noted that currently, the House of Assembly was in dearth of effective private membership Bills that can arrest some of the challenges faced by the area and  reiterated that with Barr.(Mrs) Stella Ezekiel Udoh in the House, the old story would become  a thing of the past. He pleaded the royal father to invoke his powers and liberate Oku from the marginalization she has suffered for decades.

Meanwhile, it was the phenomenal political leader of Oku Clan, Obong (Trado-Dr.) Daniel Udobio that held the council awe-struck with his solemn but powerful sermon on the palace, when he relinquished the traditional path he is widely known for, to thread the path of a Pentecostal Apostle in what the chairman of the council described as an inductive truth to the soul.

Lowering himself down to his race and going cap in hand before His Majesty Edidem Silas Akpan, Obong Udobio cried and begged him to forgive whatsoever might have been the offence of Oku Clan that warranted such marginalization she has suffered for years to ensure that nothing stands on the way of Lady Barr Stella Ezekiel Udoh to emerge as member representing Uyo State Constituency in the State House of Assembly.

Quoting the scriptures copiously he called on all selfish politicians who seek to defraud Oku Clan ward two of an opportunity that clicks in its favour to desist from such act.

Also speaking, the house of assembly hopeful in her speech overwhelmed the royal fathers with the plans she has off her sleeves to put smiles on the faces of her constituents if given the chance to represent them in the State Assembly. She explained that as a lawyer of over 26 years experience she has dedicated all her years representing communities, individuals, clans, interest groups and corporate organizations restoring their rights and privileges to them.  She reaffirmed that her quest for a seat in the house is not out of place as the House was not a strange terrain to her.  She stated that representing people has always been a natural affair to her, reiterating that it only takes a lawyer to make effective laws and  that such was the cardinal function of the legislature.
Lady Stella Ezekiel who  expressed displeasure for the poor state of the road leading to the paramount ruler’s palace told the people that she felt their travails and promised to draw government’s attention to the plight of the people of the area to feel the pulse of government through provision of basic infrastructures like good roads, improved power supply amongst other pressing needs.

Among those who spoke in support of Lady Stella Ezekiel’s House of Assembly bid were Hon. Ekong Ituen, Hon killian Thompson, Obonganwan Ubom  and a host of others.

On his part, Hon Ekong Ituen, an indigene of Ikono Clan spoke in glowing terms on the achievements of some of the female members in the House such as Hon Ekaette Ebong Okon (Itu) and Sarah Elijah of Nsit Atai and expressed optimism that with the qualities of Barr Stella Ezekiel, she would perform well if voted into office.
Whereas, Hon Killian on his part, dwelt much on political neglect of Oku and likened the fate of Oku to that of Ikono Clan as victims of political neglect. Hon Killian recapped the role he played to stabilize power rotation in the area with particular reference to the zoning of the chairmanship office to the clan as well as that of the Paramount Ruler to ensure justice, equity and fairness.
He expressed confidence on the abilities of Lady Stella Ezekiel Udoh to redefine representation in the house if given the chance.
Obonganwan Ubom joined forces with other speakers to call for the imbalance to be checked to guarantee the principle of fair play.
The secretary of the Divine change 2015 campaign group in his vote of thanks thanked the royal father for the warm reception and described as overwhelming the support of the royal fathers.

Some of the dignitaries present at the occasion include: HRM Edidem Edem Silas Akpan FNIS (JP) Paramount ruler of Uyo, Eteidung Sunday Reuben Eshiet, Eteidung Effiong Akpan Udo, Eteidung Johny Thomas Abraham, Eteidung Edet Jimmy Udofia, Eteidung Friday James Umoh, Eteidung Polycarp William Akpan, Eteidung Ikpe Okon George, Eteidung Rowland Udo Nkenta, Eteidung Ubong John Inyang and Eteidung Etim Ben Udo.
