Akwa Ibom State Police Command Smashes Tricycle Snatchers’ Syndicate

The Akwa Ibom State Police command has smashed a syndicate that specializes in snatching tricycle machines popularly known as ‘Keke Napep’ from their owners.

A source in Ikot Akpan Abia told this paper that a police team from ‘D’ Division, Itam, while carrying out the IGP’s directive of constant raiding of criminal hide outs together with surveillance of suspected areas, arrested two suspects, Henry Johnson, and Musa Kilanikola with the tricycle they snatched from one Nsikak Inyang John, of Ididep village, Ibiono Ibom on Saturday, 10th November, 2012 at 11:00pm. It was learnt that after snatching the tricycle at Uyo, it was driven to Abak by a third suspect who is now at large.

 Also recovered from the suspects was a blue coloured Nissan Almera car with registration number ABJ 883 AA used by the suspects to carry out their operation.

In a television interview, the State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) DSP Etim Dickson confirmed the incident and said that the Police command is doing everything possible to tackle criminality head-long in the state, while investigation is on going as the syndicate is said to be operating from Port Harcourt.
