Akpabio sacked me for seeking to become Governor in 2015 - Obong Bassey Albert

Promises to Declare Officially Ending of August  2014 if…

The former Finance commissioner Obong Bassey Albert Akpan has said that for showing interest in running for the office of the Governor in 2015 he was shown the way out of Chief Akpabio’s government.
Obong Bassey Albert, one of the strong contenders in the 2015 governorship race said that so far he has consulted across twenty four local government areas out of thirty one, and would be compelled to declare for the 2015 governorship at the end of his consultation, depending on the will of God and the consent of Akwa Ibom people.

He observed that the media in the state has been very fair to him, and charged journalists to continue to remain objective in their reportage.  Obong Albert recalled how he was framed up at his twilight in the government of Chief Godswill Akpabio as being a proprietor of forty three media houses which he was accused of using to attack the very government he served with diligence, adding that nothing can happen to any person except God approves.
Obong Albert, popularly addressed as OBA by his campaigners and admirers thanked Governor Akpabio for the opportunity given him to serve Akwa Ibom people as Finance Commissioner, adding that the history of his boss’ administration, if chronicled, would not be complete without his name being mentioned, boasting that for the privilege he had to work with governor Akpabio, he “served him diligently, with commitment and loyalty”.

For Obong Bassey Albert, “power comes from God and God gives it to whoever he wills”, adding that “God should give us a governor that will love Akwa Ibom people and rule well”.  He stated that Governor Godswill Akpabio has done well, but prayed that God should give “us a better governor that will take the state to the next level”.
He stated that God helping him, he was strong and courageous enough that through the instrumentality of the Holy Spirit and the support of Akwa Ibom people he would emerge the next governor of Akwa Ibom State.

He said he was not going to be a governor by zoning but  by divine prophecy, arguing that whoever treats the prophecy of God with levity has himself to blame, recalling the days of King David, he said David did not become King of Israel by zoning. He recalled how God sent Prophet Samuel to the house of Jesse from which he anointed King David for his people, stating that David’s Kingship was not through zoning but by divine prophecy.
The former Vice President of First City Monument Bank preached further that King Solomon was the tenth child of his father David and did not become King of Israel at the twilight of King David through zoning but by the divine will of God, adding that God was capable of making anything out of anything.
He stated that before Esau and Jacob were delivered, God has said he loved Jacob and hated Esau, and there was nothing anybody could do about God’s position on that, and that God also said that, “the elder shall serve the younger”.  Drawing strength from the fact that Esau had no hand in his fate and that it was divinely designed, he said “I see my aspiration as the divine will of God”.  He stated that it was the great hand of God stretched out for the sake of his people and christened, “Akwa Ubok Abasi campaign Organization”.
He promised to govern the state through the support of Akwa Ibom people and God himself.  He said that just as Solomon wanted his third son Jonathan to take over from him but God preferred David, in the same vein the governor was at liberty to support whoever he wills, but that God’s will, will be done.  He said the governor has demonstrated his support for Mr Udom Emmanuel through Akwa Ibom Consolidation Alliance(ACA), while the people of Akwa Ibom State were in support of OBA through the instrumentality of “Akwa Ubok Abasi 2015”.
The former banker said he has chosen to let Akwa Ibom people decide his fate come May 29, 2015.
On what qualifies him to go into the contest Obong Bassey Albert said he made a good Second Class Upper Honours from the University of Uyo, having studied economics, worked in the bank for eleven years, left the bank as the Vice President in 2007 to answer the call of his people to serve in Akwa Ibom State Executive Council.  He said he made his MBA in University of Nigeria, Nsuka, and has gathered 18 years cognate experience.  He stated that having served as Finance Commissioner for almost seven years without blemish, and was told by the governor that he was one of the governor’s best commissioners, he felt such commendations were encouraging enough.
In an attempt to draw comparison, OBA stated that his boss served the former governor Obong Victor Attah for seven years and then became governor, and he has also served governor Akpabio for seven years.  He recalled the governor’s comments about his person that he(OBA) is the only commissioner that talks, dresses, and gives like him(the governor), adding that that was the word of a king and that it comes with power.  He said that having served as Finance Commissioner for seven years he understood the workings of government and the vision of the greater Akwa Ibom state. He said he has the exposure and experience needed for the job but that God has the final say in the affairs of men.
Asked what he will do for the state he said his blue print for the state would be unveiled when he formally declares his intention to run for the 2015 governorship.  He denied fronting himself to settle for the Deputy Governorship of the state.  Obong Albert promised to accommodate journalists in his scheme of things if he becomes governor in 2015.
